Steak Oscar

As a very special treat to celebrate Alyssa’s 40th birthday (and New Year’s Day) we made Steak Oscar based on Steaks with Friends at Home with Rick Tramonto.  We made it in a deconstructed way since we weren’t sure everyone wanted crab and asparagus with their grilled steak.  In this post I will not provide a specific recipe but will describe the basic components:

Grilled steak (which we cut into pieces so each person could take as much as they want)

Crab and cooked asparagus tips in a lemon sauce

Red wine reduction sauce

Béarnaise sauce

The idea is to top the steak with the crab and asparagus and the red wine and Béarnaise sauces and to eat the combination with a fresh baguette.

We used up almost all the Béarnaise sauce but had a lot of the red wine reduction sauce left over.

We let each person serve themselves the components.
