This was my first try at a banh mi. One of my favorite lunches when I lived in Houston was to get a banh mi at B10, a Vietnamese restaurant on Bellaire Boulevard which named itself after the most popular item on its menu. I had the key ingredients for a good banh mi left over from a Vietnamese noodle bowl. Quantities below are for one sandwich
1 French bread roll, cut open and toasted
4 oz grilled pork (Vietnamese Grilled Pork Chops )
ΒΌ cup Vietnamese Pickled Daikon and Carrot
Sriracha mayonnaise
Sliced cucumbers
Sliced serrano or jalapeno peppers
Hoisin sauce
Spread the two sides of the bread roll with Sriracha mayonnaise. Cut the pork into small pieces and add to the sandwich. Add the pickled daikon and carrot, sliced cucumbers, and sliced chilies. Add a little Hoisin on top. Enjoy.
